A new beginning
Jennie and Rashid were privately renting but found that it became unaffordable after having their first child.
This year, they successfully bid for a new home on one of our socially rented developments which they have now said has been a ‘transformation in their lives’.
In 2017/18 out of the 155 brand new homes we completed, 93 were for social and affordable rent and located in in Leeds, Harrogate, Wakefield, Selby and across the wider Leeds City Region. We also developed 38 of those homes directly ourselves, which were, Finkle Mews in Knaresborough and Newhall Gate in Leeds.
Finkle Mews is a £700,000 development of five affordable homes built in a conservation area close to the centre of Knaresborough and was built with the support of Harrogate Borough Council and funding from government agency Homes England.
Newhall Gate in Belle Isle, Leeds, is a £4 million development of 33 new two, and three bedroomed homes for affordable rent, built on Leeds City Council owned land in the south of the City. It opened in April 2018 and is now fully occupied.
