Apprenticeships open a way to work
Michael joined Leeds Fed as a Customer Service Apprentice. After spending two years learning about housing and working with our Neighbourhood Officers he was offered a permanent post in housing. The apprenticeship helped him find a new career and he is excited about the future.
In 2014/15 we took on 6 apprentices in different areas of the business including customer service, gardening, IT and social investment. An apprenticeship is often the first experience of work for many young people and we have seen first-hand the positive effect they have.
This year we have been pleased to watch our apprentices grow and develop their confidence and skills. They have also improved their employability and careers prospects. Three of the apprentices from 2014/15 have already found permanent posts in housing.
