Financials 2017/18
It has been a strong year financially for Leeds Federated. We finished the 2017/18 year with a comprehensive income of £6.2 million which was an £0.8 million increase on the previous year.
We continue to look for ways to offer value for money and deliver cost effective services to our customers when compared to other housing associations. The average cost for running a Leeds Federated home this year was £2,980. This was a slight increase on the 2016/17 social housing Cost per Unit of £2,950. This is below the median social housing Cost per Unit for housing associations in 2016/17 of £3,300.
We also look for ways to reduce costs to enable us to have more money to invest in the business and build more homes. By investing in technology we can deliver better customer service and work smarter as staff can access our housing systems when they are out of the office.
This year we spent £17.8 million on our building programme which is continuing to expand. We borrowed another £5 million of government backed funding to support this and completed 155 new homes for rent and sale through Shared Ownership. Next year we plan to spend £15.5 million and will complete another 226 homes.
