Finding work with HUGO

Adam went to the HUGO centre to improve his job skills and CV and the experience he gained enabled him to get a permanent job.

The name HUGO stands for ‘Helping U Get On’ and during 2014/15, the centre has helped 274 people. It has helped them get on and find employment, develop their skills and confidence through GOALS, get online and use the internet and, learn to speak English at ESOL classes. The HUGO Centre runs two job clubs, one is based at its digital hub and the other takes place on a canal barge and is run in partnership with Canal Connections.

The digital hub is equipped with lap tops and free internet access. It is a UK Online centre and the HUGO team are on hand to help people get online and learn about social media, email and the internet.

The HUGO Centre is for Leeds Fed customers and the wider community. This year it had an overall footfall of around 5,200 customers.
